Kuroshio Biosphere Vol. 17, No. 2, Dec. 2020, pp. 38-42

A specimen of individual comb jelly was collected from the Nonogushi Fishing Port in Takahama Town, Nagasaki on 13rd March 2020. The specimen of comb jelly was brought back to Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium and identified to species level. This specimen was well agreed in its morphology with Beroe cucumis sensu Komai, 1918 except for its yellow body coloration. After the collection, the yellowish body color of the specimen changed to typical color during a single day. This is a first record of the body color change of B. cucumis. The color change was probably related to ingested prey items, because the specimen released yellowish mucosal fluid from its mouth.
